HOPE OLSON

TWO X TWO

NOVEMBER 6 - 29

Hope Olson is a Michigan-based artist who paints nostalgic subjects in candy-colored hues and unfussy brushwork. Modeling her work after traditional folk art, art made for the people by the people, she paints good-natured narratives about small-town life and her natural surroundings through imprecise, informal compositions.

Olson plays with exaggerated color palettes that deviate from reality but are honest with emotion as she reflects on themes of labor, home, neighborliness, and faith.

Two x Two, a new presentation by returning artist Hope Olson, marks her third appearance at the gallery. The exhibition explores the beauty of vases presented in pairs, offering a thoughtful look at form, relationship and the visual conversation between objects.
